Top cryptocurrencies fell Thursday with Bitcoin (BTC-USD) dropping below $82,000.
The CoinDesk Market Index, which tracks dozens of digital assets including Bitcoin, dropped 4.4% in the past 24 hours. The Nasdaq 100 declined 1.3%, the S&P 500 fell 0.5%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average was little changed.
Bitcoin fell 2.1% to $81,658, according to CoinMarketCap data. The most popular cryptocurrency's 24-hour trading volume rose 21% to $46.2 billion.
Ethereum (ETH-USD), the second-largest digital asset by market value, dropped 4.3% to $2,459.
XRP (XRP-USD) declined 3.7%, BNB (BNB-USD) shed 5.4%, and Solana (SOL-USD) lost 6%. Dogecoin (DOGE-USD) tumbled 5.5%, and Cardano (ADA-USD) slumped 9.6%.
The total market value of the cryptocurrency industry fell 2.7% in the past 24 hours to $2.76 trillion, with trading volume rising 16% to $120.5 billion.
