Venture Global (VG) is in discussions with at least three Chinese liquefied natural gas importers, including PetroChina, to supply fuel from its facilities in Louisiana, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
For PetroChina, the supply would total over 1 million tons per year, sources told the media outlet.
The near-closure of the Strait of Hormuz since February drove up spot LNG prices in Asia and Europe, prompting China to scale back purchases, according to the report.
Venture Global did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
