China State Railway Adds 2,449 Trains for Peak Holiday Return Rush

China State Railway Group added 2,449 passenger trains on Wednesday to handle the National Day holiday return rush, which was expected to reach a peak of 24.15 million trips, Xinhua News Agency reported the same day.
The operator expanded services and ran overnight trains to manage surging passenger volumes, the report said.
The heaviest traffic was concentrated on major routes connecting Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Wuhan, and Shenzhen, the report added.
