Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang has learned that a single sentence from him can move billions in market value, and on Wednesday, he joked about wielding that power over dinner.

“Their Stock Price Doubles the Next Day”

When a Goldman Sachs analyst asked Huang to rank the biggest supply constraints facing the company’s growth, power, memory, and foundry capacity on the company’s second-quarter earnings call, he deflected with a joke instead.

“Last year, one of the funniest things to do is just to go figure out where I go for dinner and who I have dinner with, and their stock price doubled the next day.”

He then pivoted back to a serious answer, saying NVIDIA’s “entire supply chain is challenged” and that the company is “running flat out” to bring more capacity online.

A Fried Chicken Dinner That Moved Markets

In October 2025, he dined with Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun at a popular fried chicken restaurant in Seoul, and the outing went viral, sending shares of local fried chicken chains soaring in South Korea.

The dinner came as Huang announced Nvidia would supply more GPUs to South Korean firms, including Samsung and Hyundai.

A Real Pattern, Not Just a Joke

Shares of Marvell Technology Inc. (NASDAQ:MRVL) climbed as much as 32% in a single session in June after Huang called it the “next $1 trillion company” at Computex, then extended those gains the following day.

At the same conference, Huang pushed back on fears that AI would wipe out the industry, saying “this is actually an incredible time to be a software company.”

Software stocks rallied sharply on his comments, with the iShares Expanded Tech-Software Sector ETF (BATS:IGV) gaining nearly 6%.

In January, Quantum computing names, including D-Wave Quantum Inc. (NASDAQ:QBTS), Rigetti Computing Inc. (NASDAQ:RGTI), and IonQ Inc. (NYSE:IONQ), fell after Huang said practical quantum computing was likely 20 years away.

Then months later, those same stocks rallied again after he reversed course and called the technology an “inflection point.”

Price Action: Nvidia shares closed 1.59% lower on Wednesday at $209.66 and climbed 7.3% in early pre-market trading on Thursday to $225.
