0756 GMT - BRC Asia's solid net cash position, resilient operating cash flow and robust 1.69 billion Singapore dollar order book is likely to enhance its earnings visibility over the next few years, says UOB Kay Hian's Tang Kai Jie in a note. These should position the company to sustain its margin stability, the analyst says. The Singapore steel reinforcement solutions provider's nine-month earnings also signal its resilient business and market leadership, as it continues to benefit from the rising construction cycle in Singapore, he adds. UOB Kay Hian retains its buy rating and target price of S$5.30. Shares fall 0.2% to S$4.24. (megan.cheah@wsj.com)
0752 GMT - Shares in London-listed miners rise as gold and silver prices are boosted by a weaker dollar and concerns around fiscal risks. The precious metals are bouncing back after dropping earlier this year, with investors expecting inflation to stay high as central banks keep interest rates where they are, Jefferies analysts say in a note. "While gold and silver have rebounded in recent weeks, we continue to believe the market is underestimating the implications of growing fiscal deficits, elevated debt levels, and currency debasement," the analysts say. Antofagasta is up 5%, Fresnillo rises 3.8%, Endeavour Mining increases 3% and Anglo American is up 2.9%. (anthony.orunagoriainoff@dowjones.com)
0108 GMT - Gold declines in Asian trade. The precious metal is likely to continue reacting to changing monetary policy expectations, says Critical Metals' Tony Sage in an email. Gold prices could be weighed by expectations from Federal Reserve officials that monetary policy tightening could be required if inflation doesn't come down, he says. A higher interest-rate environment typically weighs on the nonyielding yellow metal. Upcoming economic data releases, including job market and inflation figures, could affect sentiment, with softer readings likely to fuel bets on a less hawkish Fed, he adds. Spot gold slips 0.1% to $4,513.18 a troy ounce. (megan.cheah@wsj.com)
0001 GMT - Regis Resources' FY result reinforces Barrenjoey's view that M&A remains on the agenda for the Australian gold producer. While the miner's 20 Australian cents a share payout beats expectations, "the dividend is pretty low" when taking into account Regis's cash position and robust free cash flow generation, Barrenjoey says. "RRL in our view is telegraphing that M&A remains high on the agenda, and we believe is likely to be an active participant in any auctions of assets that come to market," says the bank. Barrenjoey has an underweight rating and an A$5.60/share target on Regis. The stock ended Thursday at A$8.23.
