What to Know as Meta Goes to Trial

Up to $1.4 trillion

That's how much four states are seeking in damages from Meta in a trial starting today, accusing the owner of Facebook and Instagram of contributing to a crisis in youth mental health.

That's almost how much the entire company is valued at.

Meta has consistently denied wrongdoing in response to suits alleging user harm, but if proven in court, these claims could force it to make major changes to how its social media networks operate.
