Ramaco Resources plans to work with Indium to potentially supply gallium and germanium from its mine project in Wyoming to the semiconductor industry.
The companies' non-binding memorandum of understanding aims to combine Ramaco's potential domestic resourcebase with Indium's expertise in the refining, purification, alloy development, and manufacture of high-performance materials, including gallium- and germanium-based products used in the semiconductor industry, Ramaco said.
Indium manufactures and supplies electronics-assembly materials, including semiconductor packaging materials, thermal interface materials, solder products and specialty metals.
The MOU is non-binding, and any future supply or offtake arrangements would be subject to due diligence, negotiation and execution of definitive agreements, as well as the successful development of the Brook Mine project, Ramaco said.
"We believe this MOU demonstrates a promising opportunity to introduce Brook Mine gallium and germanium into established domestic and allied supply chains," Ramaco's Chief Executive Randall Atkins said.
