Samsung Electronics (KRX:005930) unit Samsung Display will restart construction of its new A7 plant at Asan, South Chungcheong Province, to expand smartphone panel capacity, The Korea Times reported Tuesday, citing industry sources.

The company approved the restart at an Aug. 7 meeting, reviving a project that began in 2017 but was suspended in 2021 due to the Covid‑19 pandemic, the report said. Completion is expected in 2028.

Samsung Display did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
