Market Chatter: Canada Pension Plan Investment Board Pursues Infrastructure Deals Through Private Investment Firms

MT Newswires Live

The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, or CPPIB, is pursuing infrastructure deals through private deals with KKR (KKR), Blackstone (BX), and BlackRock (BLK) rather than relying solely on direct investments, the Financial Times reported Wednesday, citing James Bryce, head of infrastructure at CPPIB.

The FT cited Bryce as saying infrastructure deals are becoming increasingly large and that partnering with private capital managers can open opportunities CPPIB might not be able to pursue alone.

CPPIB said its infrastructure arm will continue to invest mostly directly in companies, according to the report.

Canada Pension, KKR, Blackstone, and BlackRock did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
