Yield on 30-Year Treasury Bond Tops 5.3%

Dow Jones
Aug 18

Bonds remain under pressure, with the 30-year Treasury yield poised to finish the day at a fresh 19-year high.

Yields, which rise when bond prices fall, drifted higher earlier in the session. They then took a sharper leg up as Brent crude prices jumped above $90 a barrel, amid concerns about a potential escalation in the U.S.-Iran conflict. The 30-year yield was recently 5.314%, according to Tradeweb, on track to close at 5.3% or higher for the first time since June 2007. The 10-year yield was 4.726%, up from 4.695% on Friday.
