AstraZeneca (AZN) is stopping a phase 3 trial evaluating volrustomig in combination with chemotherapy for patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer, the company said Monday.

An independent data monitoring committee recommended halting the trial after finding the combination was unlikely to meet its primary survival goals, the company said.

The treatment showed a safety profile consistent with existing data without any new safety signals, AstraZeneca said.

The other phase 3 studies testing volrustomig in cervical cancer, head and neck cancer, and mesothelioma will proceed as planned, it said.
