Materials Down as U.S. Dollar Rises - Materials Roundup

Producers of metals, grains and other raw materials fell as the U.S. dollar rebounded from initial losses.

Elevated oil prices could lead to a rebound in inflation despite an easing in core prices in July. "Somewhat benign inflation data over the last two months have increased the risks that hikes will either be delayed (e.g., they might start in Dec) or won't materialize," said economists at brokerage Bank of America Global Research, in a note to clients.

Corn futures rallied after the U.S. Department of Agriculture slashed its estimate for yields of the crop in the 2026-27 season.
