For 1HFY2026 ended June 30, Sembcorp Industries has reported a 25% y-o-y drop in underlying net profit to $369 million. An interim dividend of 11 cents, two cents higher than 1HFY2025, was declared. \nIncluding $155 million Alinta transaction costs, $57 million deferred payment note forex loss, $10 million fair value loss of Alinta's energy derivatives and a $3 million gain on the sale of a water business in China, Sembcorp's patmi plunged 72% y-o-y to $150 million.\nTurnover was up 28% y-o-y to $3.77 billion, with cost of sales rising 40% y-o-y to $3.15 billion. Ebidta dipped 3% to $768 million. \nSembcorp reported weaker results across its three main business segments. The gas and related services segment reported a 14% drop in earnings to $285 million. The decline was mainly due to lower earnings in the UK following the exit of a customer and lower generation spreads in Singapore. \nUnderlying net profit for the renewables segment declined 48% y-o-y to $69 million, mainly due to continued curtailment, the loss of VAT refund and the transition to market-based pricing in China. In addition, weaker wind and solar resources resulted in lower generation output during the period.\nThe integrated urban solutions segment delivered an underlying net profit of $62 million, a y-o-y drop of 16%. This was attributed to the absence of contribution from SembEnviro following its disposal in 1HFY2025. During the period, Sembcorp secured six new industrial park projects in Vietnam.\nSembcorp held cash of around $1.33 billion against borrowings of $15.2 billion as at June 30. Net asset value was $3.07, down from $3.12 as at Dec 31.\nAccording to the results filing, assuming the Alinta transaction was completed on Jan 1, underlying net profit for 1HFY2026 would be $558 million on a pro-forma basis.\nSembcorp expects a stronger 2HFY2026 performance, supported by contributions from Alinta, improved earnings from its gas and related services business, and higher land sales from the integrated urban solutions segment.
