Market Chatter: TSMC Said in NT$30 Billion Talks for Two AU Optronics Plants

TSMC (TPE:2330) is reportedly in talks to acquire two AU Optronics (TPE:2409) plants in Taiwan for more than NT$30 billion, according to a report by Economic Daily News on Monday, citing unnamed sources.

The deal, which covers the L7 and L5C plants at Central Taiwan Science Park, is in the negotiation phase, with TSMC personnel having conducted on-site inspections, the report said.

Through the deal, the two companies will reportedly develop advanced packaging technologies.

TSMC and AU Optronics did not immediately respond to MTNewswires' requests for comment.
