Samsung Securities (KRX:016360) has to pay 1.86 billion won in damages to the National Pension Service, following a ruling from Korea's Supreme Court on a stock issuance mistake in 2018, Yonhap News Agency reported Wednesday.

The NPS filed a damages suit against the securities company after an official made a fat-finger error on April 6, 2018, according to the report.

The official inputted 1,000 shares instead of 1,000 won per share in dividends for employees under a compensation plan, the report said.

Samsung Securities did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.

Shares of the securities company rose more than 1% in recent trade.
