Chemours' (CC) recent financial results have cast less certainty on its medium-term growth, with its refrigerant business seeing larger destocking in the quarter, UBS said in a note emailed Monday.

The company's refrigerant business gained temporary market share with an oversell in 2025 and likely early 2026, as the prior year was a transition year for US stationary refrigerants, where Chemours has larger exposure, according to the note. The business is now seen declining 5% to 10% in H2 year over year and 1% for the full year, putting Chemours' sales tracking at par with its peers, UBS analysts said.

Chemours is improving in its other business lines such as titanium dioxide and advanced materials, but its execution remains inconsistent, and the titanium dioxide market recovery could be more limited than expected, the analysts said.

The analysts said their 2027 forecast for earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization, declined to $985 million, which is the same level as consensus estimates.

UBS downgraded the company's stock rating to neutral from and buy lowered the price target to $18 from $29.
