Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) is facing a complaint filed by the Alliance of General Information Press in France with the country's Competition Authority over artificial intelligence-generated article summaries that led to traffic loss for publishers, according to a Tuesday statement.
"Publishers are willing to support and facilitate these new uses within a balanced framework based on negotiated authorization and remuneration commensurate with the value their content generates," the media group said.
The media group is urging the regulator to ensure that Google complies with its earlier commitments that include negotiating in good faith with publishers over the use of press content, according to the statement.
Google did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
