0059 GMT - Sandfire Resources could positively surprise investors with a bigger-than-anticipated dividend and perhaps even a share buyback come results day, Macquarie says. It forecasts a final dividend of 13.5 U.S. cents a share, about 8% above consensus. The bank says its forecast reflects Sandfire's US$353 million net cash position. "We see potential for share buy-backs" too, Macquarie adds. Management has signaled a preference for returning excess cash, although geopolitical uncertainty might encourage it to keep a notable near-term cash buffer, says Macquarie. The bank says it will also be watching for FY27 unit-cost and capital-expenditure guidance. Shares in Sandfire are up 2.4% at 21.14 Australian dollars.
