Coles Group (ASX:COL) is planning to shift up to 1,000 jobs to India, including marketing and technology roles, under a multi-year outsourcing deal with professional services company Accenture, the Australian Financial Review reported Friday, citing unnamed people briefed on the plans.

In response to MT Newswires' request for comment, a Coles spokesperson said that the numbers are in "several hundreds," and the shift will involve job cuts, as well as exploring redeployments and retraining opportunities.

"Under the multi-year partnership, some work in our corporate workforce will move to Accenture overseas and in Australia," the spokesperson said.
