WHAT TO WATCH

-- Investors will be keen to know about the company's execution and market leadership during the quarter. Deutsche Bank's Bhavin Shah said in a report that gross merchandise value should come in ahead of expectations and support strong revenue growth. In particular, he sees growth driven by Shopify's enterprise push, as well as international momentum, particularly in Europe.

-- Sentiment still remains dampened on the tech stock. Shah thinks investor sentiment remains mixed at best with concerns around both artificial intelligence token cost and gross margin pressure, coupled with slower growth from stronger comparative periods.

-- Shopify's third-quarter outlook will also be watched closely. Shah expects guidance for the period to come in broadly in line with current estimates, and similar to this second quarter. "We expect a revenue growth guide of high-twenties (Street +27%), gross Profit growth of mid-20's % (Street +24%), and GAAP operating expenses of 33-34% (Street 34%)," Shah said.
