Shares of Dauch climbed after the company raised its full-year outlook and logged higher-than-expected adjusted earnings and sales in the latest quarter.

The stock rose 17% to $6.65 Friday. Shares have edged 2.5% higher year to date.

The automotive-supply company before the bell posted a second-quarter profit of $1 million, or breakeven on a per-share basis. That compares with $39.3 million, or 32 cents a share, a year earlier.

Stripping out one-time items, earnings were 32 cents a share. Analysts polled by FactSet expected adjusted earnings of 16 cents a share.

Net sales nearly doubled, climbing 92% to $2.96 billion and topping Wall Street estimates for $2.81 billion.

Chief Executive David Dauch attributed the latest quarter's performance primarily to the company's acquisition of Dowlais Group earlier this year. "We are focused on unlocking the full strategic potential of the transformational acquisition," he added.

For the year, Dauch said it now expects adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization of $1.36 billion to $1.43 billion on sales of $10.6 billion to $10.8 billion. It had previously guided for adjusted Ebitda of $1.3 billion to $1.43 billion on sales of $10.3 billion to $10.8 billion.

Analysts are looking for adjusted Ebitda of $1.37 billion on sales of $10.58 billion.
