Ford's vehicle sales in July were 10% lower than the year before, dragged down by a steep decline in electric vehicle sales.

The auto-maker on Tuesday said that July sales of electrified vehicles dropped 40%, with a 75% slide in fully electric vehicles and 25% decline in hybrids.

It sold 153,800 non-electric vehicles, down 5.2% from last July.

Year-to-date, non-electric sales are down 6.2% with just over 1 million sold. Ford has sold 127,079 electrified vehicles, 31% fewer than last year.

By model, some of the biggest year-to-date declines were in the Ford Escape and Ford Mustang Mach-E, which are down 72% and 50%, respectively.

The Ford Explorer has seen some of the best growth this year, up 18%.
