Update: Toyota Motor Fiscal Q1 Earnings, Revenue Rise; Unveils $6.38 Billion Share Buyback Authorization

Toyota Motor (TM) reported fiscal Q1 earnings Tuesday of 120.69 Japanese yen ($0.77) per diluted share, up from 64.56 yen a year earlier.

Four analysts polled by FactSet expected 73.23 yen.

Revenue for the quarter ended June 30 was 13.525 trillion yen, compared with 12.253 trillion yen a year earlier.

Analysts expected 12.630 trillion yen.

For fiscal 2027, the company said it now expects earnings of 272.17 yen per share, up from its prior guidance of 251.25 yen.

Analysts are looking for 291.7 yen.

The company announced a share repurchase authorization of up to 1 trillion yen ($6.38 billion) through open market purchases. It has set aside 200 million treasury shares for cancellation, or about 1.4% of the total number of issued shares.
