CGI's Acquisitions Stave Off Broader Organic Decline

1054 ET - CGI's growth in 3Q was propped up by acquisitions. While topline revenue rose 2.5% to slightly beat forecasts at C$4.19 billion, Scotiabank's Kevin Krishnaratne says growth relies heavily on external dealmaking. "Top line results were helped by FX and M&A as organic declines of -1% were in line with expectations, while profitability held firm," the analyst says. These acquisitive gains helped buffer against broader commercial drag, with additional support from "recent acquisitions" and selective public-sector demand, such as 2.5% organic growth in U.S. Federal. CGI continues to face "continued softness in MRD [manufacturing, retail, distribution] and financial services." Shares are up 4.9% to C$105.66.
