Austal (ASX:ASB) said Wednesday that it upgraded the integrated monitoring, alarm, and control system for the passenger ferry, Prony Express, in New Caledonia, with a MARINELINK-Prime upgrade package.

The company said it was contracted to develop a tailored end-to-end solution of the MARINELINK-Prime software and commercial off-the-shelf hardware, on-site installation and commissioning activities in New Caledonia, crew training and familiarization, as well as ongoing remote technical support capability.

The vessel was built by Austal and entered service in 2012, providing daily workforce movement to support Prony Resources' mining operations, the company said.

Austal's shares fell nearly 2% in recent trading on Wednesday.
