Sprouts Farmers Market 2Q Profit Falls Amid Cautious Consumer Environment

Sprouts Farmers Market reported lower profit as it navigates a cautious consumer environment.

The specialty supermarket chain posted net income of $129.2 million, or $1.37 a share, compared with $133.7 million, or $1.35 a share, a year earlier.

Revenue rose 5% to $2.33 billion. Analysts polled by FactSet expected $2.32 billion.

Comparable store sales fell 1%, matching Wall Street expectations.

Chief Executive Jack Sinclair said that as the company navigates a cautious consumer environment it was encouraged by the performance of its new stores and success of its innovation efforts.

The company opened seven new stores in its second quarter.

Sprouts forecast third quarter comparable store sales in a range from a loss of 0.5% to an increase of 1.5% and earnings per share between $1.20 and $1.24. Analysts polled by FactSet are expecting comparable store sales growth of 0.6% and earnings per share of $1.29.

Sprouts guided fiscal 2026 comparable store sales in a range from a loss of 0.5% and an increase of 0.5% and earnings per share between $5.32 and $5.40. Analysts polled by FactSet expected comparable store sales to fall 0.1% and earnings per share of $5.55.
