Edison International (EIX) said Thursday Southern California Edison believes it is likely its equipment was associated with the ignition of the 2025 Eaton Fire, according to a quarterly filing Thursday.

The utility said it has not conclusively determined its equipment caused the fire, but is not aware of evidence pointing to another possible source of ignition. The Los Angeles County Fire Department's investigation into the cause of the fire remains ongoing, the filing said.

Southern California Edison recorded $1.6 billion in settlement-related losses and said it expects to incur additional material losses related to the fire, the filing said.

It also recorded expected recoveries of $917 million from customer-funded self-insurance, $645 million from the Wildfire Fund and $70 million through FERC electric rates, the filing said.
