India's Fiscal Deficit Reaches INR3.078 Trillion in June

The Indian government's fiscal deficit stood at 3.078 trillion Indian rupees at the end of June, reaching 18.2% of the full-year Budget Estimate (BE), according to data from the Controller General of Accounts on Friday.

The latest reading was up from the deficit of 1.624 trillion rupees at the end of May.

Total receipts in June stood at 10.5 trillion rupees, representing 28.7% of the annual target. Net tax revenue came in at 6.366 trillion rupees, or 22.2% of the BE, while non-tax revenue reached 3.777 trillion rupees, or 56.7% of the annual projection.

Meanwhile, total expenditure amounted to 13.6 trillion rupees, or 25.4% of the full-year budget projection. Of this, revenue expenditure accounted for 10.2 trillion rupees, or 24.6% of BE, while capital expenditure stood at 3.403 trillion rupees, or 27.8% of the budget.
