Jazz Pharmaceuticals Has Several Growth Options Beyond Marketed Drugs, RBC Says

Jazz Pharmaceuticals (JAZZ) has a number of options that could add meaningful growth over the coming years beyond the company's currently marketed drugs, RBC Capital Markets said in a Friday research note.

Building on this, RBC favors the internal development of an orexin receptor agonist, although reviving development of its suvecaltamide essential-tremor treatment, entering the psychedelics space, or building on its brain-cancer business could also add value, according to the note.

Pursuing an internal orexin program and expanding the glioma franchise would yield internal synergies, and the balance-sheet savings from developing an orexin program internally could be used to bolt on a glioma drug for relatively low cost, RBC said.

Additionally, RBC said the relatively limited research-and-development investment required for some late-stage psychedelic programs could benefit Jazz Pharmaceuticals because it could allow for nearer-term revenue accretion.

RBC reiterated its outperform rating and maintained its $258 price target on the company's stock.
