Want Want China Likely to Face Some Headwinds in Near Term

0357 GMT - Want Want China, which sells rice crackers and flavored drinks, is likely to face some headwinds in the near term, according to Citi analysts in a research note. Citi expects the profit weakness flagged in the quarter ended June to continue into the following quarter, as wholesale channel destocking typically takes more than one quarter to clear. The company also cautioned that its results for the six months ending in September will be hurt if current trends persist, the analysts point out. Citi thinks there is "rising risk that management further tones down expectations in upcoming investor communications, which could pressure the shares near term." Citi keeps its buy rating, with a target price of 4.10 Hong Kong dollars. Shares last traded at HK$3.40. (tracy.qu@wsj.com)
