Consumer stocks were advancing premarket Monday, with the State Street Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLP) 0.3% higher and the State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLY) up 1.1%.
Brown-Forman (BF.A, BF.B) has received an unsolicited takeover offer from Sazerac, the company said, noting that the proposal was "not actionable." Brown-Forman stock was up more than 1% pre-bell.
