Anson Resources (ASX:ASN) said its unit Blackstone Minerals has submitted an application to acquire mineral rights from the Utah Division of Forest, Fire and State Lands at its Green River Lithium Project in the US, according to a Monday Australian bourse filing.

The company said the new tenure covers a total area of 4.76 square kilometers of highly prospective lithium-rich brines, representing a 5.4% increase in the project area and joining the east and west claim areas, with the blocks being considered for inclusion in a future JORC resource update.

The Utah Division of Forest, Fire and State Lands has recently developed new policies to accommodate the allocation of the mineral rights applied for by Anson, with the company expecting to receive the first approval from the division, the filing.

The company's shares fell almost 5% in recent Monday trade and earlier hit their lowest since December 2020.
