China's Residential-property Developers' Earnings Could Rise in 2H

0954 GMT - Residential developers are likely to report stronger results in the second half of the year thanks to their leading position in high-end projects, say HSBC Global Research analysts in a note. Primary sales in China's property market stayed soft through early summer, partly due to an unusually rainy season across many eastern cities, they add. That said, the K-shaped recovery remains largely undisturbed, they say. Into the second half, an easier base leaves room for positive surprises, they add. At the premium end, demand remains resilient, with record luxury transactions in Hangzhou in 1H and strong recent launches underscoring appetite for luxury products, they say. HSBC Global Research favors China Resources Land and C&D International. Both companies will likely report more resilient 1H results, they say. (jiahui.huang@wsj.com; @ivy_jiahuihuang)
