Otis Worldwide's second-quarter profit rose as revenue growth was driven by higher service segment sales.
The escalator and elevator company posted on Wednesday a higher net income of $428 million, or $1.12 a share, compared with $393 million, or 99 cents a share, in the same quarter a year ago.
Otis benefited from no longer paying UpLift transformation costs, as well as the absence of other separation-related adjustments and nonrecurring items in the prior year.
Adjusted earnings, which strips out exceptional items and costs, were $1.01 a share, in-line with analyst forecasts, according to FactSet.
Net sales rose 7% to $3.86 billion, coming in ahead of analyst forecasts which had pegged sales at a more modest $3.75 billion for the quarter.
The company said the quarter's performance was driven by service sales with growth in all lines of business.
Otis has lowered its full-year outlook for adjusted earnings per share to $4.01 to $4.05, down from a previous $4.20 to $4.24 range, with analysts expecting $4.18 for the year.
