Calix Shares Decline as 3Q Profit Forecast Misses Wall Street's Expectations

Shares of Calix slid after the company gave a soft profit outlook for the current quarter as it expects higher memory costs to pressure its margins.

The stock fell 14% to $33.14 in after-hours trading on Monday. At market close shares were down 28% year to date.

For the third quarter, the technology company forecast adjusted earnings per share of 37 cents to 45 cents, below analysts' projection of 46 cents a share, according to FactSet. The company also guided for revenue of $301 million to $307 million, compared with analysts' forecast of $301.7 million.

The company said it expects continued increases in memory component costs to weigh on its bottom line. It expects surcharges to partially offset some of that pressure.

In the second quarter, the company swung to a profit of $17.1 million, compared with a loss of $199,000 a year earlier.

Adjusted earnings per share were 47 cents, compared with estimates of 40 cents a share.

Revenue rose 21% to $293.3 million, compared with analyst estimates of $290 million.
