Qantas Airways' First Project Sunrise Test Flight to Land in Melbourne

Qantas Airways' (ASX:QAN) first test flight under its Project Sunrise initiative departed from Toulouse, France, on Thursday and is due to land in Melbourne, Australia, on Friday morning after a 19-hour journey, according to multiple media reports on Friday.

The test flight of the Airbus A350-1000ULR, which was custom-built for the airline's planned non-stop flights between Sydney and London starting from October 2027, was being tracked by thousands of people on Flightradar24 shortly after take off, news.com.au reported.

Airbus is putting the A350-1000ULR through test flights under a range of conditions, including turbulent weather, The Australian reported.
