Merck (MRK) said Friday it unveiled an early access strategy for alimatravir, its investigational once-monthly oral HIV prevention pill, if it receives regulatory approval.

The company said the plan includes royalty-free licensing agreements with seven generic drugmakers to supply 129 low- and middle-income countries, investments in manufacturing capacity, and support for regional production in Africa and Latin America.

Merck said it is implementing the strategy while Phase 3 trials are still underway to accelerate access following potential approval.
