Archer Daniels Midland has hired Syngenta Group veteran Jeff Rowe as the agribusiness giant's new number-two executive.

ADM on Monday said Rowe, who has been chief executive of Swiss-based agriculture company Syngenta since January 2024, will join the Chicago company in the newly created role of executive vice president and chief operating officer on Aug. 17.

Rowe, who will oversee ADM's commercial businesses, global manufacturing and research-and-development efforts, will report to Chairman and CEO Juan Luciano, the company said.
