Health-care companies fell sharply after a warning from one operator of medical facilities.

Shares of hospital chain HCA Healthcare slid after it cut its profit projection for the year due to shifts in patients' coverage under the Affordable Care Act.

Traders retreated from some major drug makers ahead of earnings.

Shares of Bristol Myers Squibb fell by the largest increment since 2025.

Michigan state health officials are narrowing in on lettuce as a possible culprit in the rapidly expanding explosive-diarrhea outbreak, though federal authorities say they are still working to confirm a specific food source as the cause.
