The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) granted Ampol (ASX:ALD) unit Ampol Australia Petroleum an exemption from the requirement to accept cash for certain in-person payments in relation to 50 motor fuel retail sites in New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia, Tasmania, and Victoria, according to a Thursday statement from the regulator.

The exemption for Ampol began on June 24 and will last for five years, the ACCC said.

The exemption includes a condition that the motor fuel retailer must notify the regulator if there is a material change in circumstances relevant to the exemption, the regulator added.
