Itochu (TYO:8001) and Daikin (TYO:6367) have signed a comprehensive alliance under Japan's Resource Circulation Act to establish integrated recycling systems for commercial air conditioners, according to a joint statement on Thursday.

The partnership aims to expand horizontal recycling of metals, plastics, electronics, and fluorocarbons while building a sustainable supply chain via combined recycling expertise and product technology.

Itochu oversees certification, logistics, traceability, and KPIs, while Daikin handles material design, quality assurance, procurement, and product development.

The initiative will start domestically with phased nationwide expansion, including legal certifications and individual contracts for specific models and quality standards.
