Levi Strauss & Co.'s core styles drove much of the growth in its bottoms business in the latest quarter, CEO Michelle Gass says during a call with analysts. Looser silhouettes continued to see solid growth, with standout performance for Levi's 501 90s jeans for women and 501 loose fit for men, she says. Levi's is also seeing continued strength across a range of other silhouettes, including its cinch baggy franchise, wide leg and low loose fits for women, as well as its relaxed and bootcut styles for men, she says. Levi's focus on newness is adding extra momentum to that growth, she says, with its push into categories beyond denim contributing about a third of top-line growth in the quarter.
