Market Chatter: Uber Pauses Most Planned Europe Food Delivery Expansion Amid Delivery Hero Pursuit

Uber Technologies (UBER) has paused most of its planned food delivery expansion in Europe as it continues efforts to acquire rival Delivery Hero, the Financial Times reported Sunday.

The company has shelved planned launches in five of the seven countries it had targeted for this year, including Austria, Norway, and Greece, the report said.

Uber said the pause could ease potential European Union antitrust scrutiny of any acquisition of Delivery Hero, according to the report.

Uber Technologies did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
