Chinese officials met with top technology firms over the past month regarding potential restrictions of China's most advanced artificial intelligence models overseas, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing three people familiar with the discussions.
Among those that met with authorities in Beijing are officials from Alibaba (HKG:9988), Knowledge Atlas Technology (HKG:2513), also known as Z.ai, and ByteDance, the report said.
The overseas export limits could be imposed on closed-source and open-source versions of the models, according to Reuters.
Alibaba, Z.ai, and ByteDance did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
