EMC Gold (ASX: EM3) appointed Agne Ahlenius as chief executive, effective July 6, reflecting the company's transition to a Spain-focused gold development company, according to a Monday Australian bourse filing.

The company said Ahlenius has held senior executive positions at a number of significant Spanish mining operations and projects, including Saloro, Kinbauri España, Matsa, and Tungsten San Juan, the filing added.
