Astrazeneca to Collaborate With Abbisko Therapeutics for Potential Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Treatment

Astrazeneca (AZN) agreed to enter into a strategic collaboration with Abbisko Therapeutics to jointly advance the clinical development of a therapeutic candidate for non-small cell lung cancer, the latter said late Wednesday.
The phase 1/2 study will evaluate the safety and efficacy of Abbisko's oral small-molecule programmed death-ligand 1 inhibitor, lumipodlin, in combination with AstraZeneca's osimertinib, for the treatment of patients suffering from non-small cell lung cancer.
The phase 2 study will be led by Abbisko, which will share responsibilities for the trial with AstraZeneca.
The National Medical Products Administration cleared the investigational new drug application for the combination study on May 20.
