Qantas Airways Expands Capacity on Japan, New Zealand Routes

Qantas Airways (ASX:QAN) said it is increasing flights between Melbourne and Tokyo and expanding trans-Tasman services, adding more than 45,000 seats across Japan and New Zealand routes amid sustained demand for both destinations, according to a Monday statement by the company.

The airline said it will increase its Melbourne-Narita services from daily to 11 flights per week between December and March 2027 in response to growing demand, adding a total of 30,000 seats on the route.

The airline is also increasing trans-Tasman capacity for the summer peak, adding 15,000 seats to Queenstown and increasing Sydney-Auckland services by up to 10% with larger aircraft and extra flights.

The airline's shares were down nearly 1% in recent Monday trade.
