Corus Entertainment notched a deeper loss in its latest quarter as revenue slumped across its core operations and it continued to see pressure on television advertising demand.

The Canadian media and content company recorded a loss of 36.5 million Canadian dollars (US$25.7 million), or C$0.18 a share, for its third fiscal quarter, versus a year-earlier loss of C$7.3 million, or C$0.04.

On an adjusted basis, the per-share loss came in at C$0.15, much wider than the C$0.04 analysts polled by FactSet had forecast.

Revenue fell 16% to C$249.4 million for the three months to May 31, from C$297.8 million last year.

Revenue from Corus's television segment was down 16% at C$229.5 million and radio revenue declined 15% to C$19.9 million.

Corus operates 25 specialty television services, 36 radio stations, 15 conventional television stations, digital and streaming platforms, and social digital agency and media services.
