The American depositary receipts of Leifras were trading higher in the after-hours market following news it entered into a deal to acquire 100% of the equity interests in child facility operator Swift Japan Corp.
Leifras said it would pay about 454.6 million Japanese yen ($2.8 million) for the acquisition.
After the bell, Leifras ADRs were trading 37.5% higher, at $3.06. The ADRs closed the day's regular session at $2.44, declining by less than 1%.
Swift Japan operates licensed nurseries in districts of Nagoya City, and Leifras plans to introduce its sports-based non-cognitive skill development methodologies as an extracurricular service, the company said.
The deal is expected to close on July 1.
Leifras said it plans to continue deepening partnerships with local governments and businesses.
