0119 GMT - IDP Education's bear at Macquarie worries that the student placement provider's cost cuts could stifle its growth if they get much bigger. The Australian company has flagged that its FY 2027 cost reductions will more than offset natural cost inflation. This suggests reductions of up to A$50 million, according to a note from one of the investment bank's analysts. Pushing this to A$60 million would reduce overheads to about 34% of revenue by FY 2028, but potentially constrain growth almost immediately, the note warns. Macquarie keeps an underperform rating on the stock and lowers its target price 2.1% to 2.30 Australian dollars. Shares are down 3.5% at A$2.47. (stuart.condie@wsj.com)
